Several EV-related industry groups are calling on Ottawa to both maintain the Electric Vehicle Availability Standard and bring back rebate and incentive programs. Electric Mobility Canada, for example, is urging the government to keep EV targets ambitious and to bring back incentives like iZEV (currently paused) and ZEVIP.

The Toronto Transit Commission has big plans for its electrification program. Engineering, architecture, design and consulting firm EXP has been selected by PowerOn Energy Solutions as an engineering services provider for the program, which involves the electrification of eight bus garages over the next 15 years with the goal of reaching a zero-emissions fleet.

With help from the federal Zero-Emission Transit Fund, several Ontario communities are studying how to transition their fuel-based public transit vehicles to zero-emission electric buses. The findings from these studies will advise each community on the required elements for transitioning to a zero-emission fleet, including the steps for purchasing electric buses and charging infrastructure.
