BC Hydro, Victoria, and Saanich receive ZEVIP funding for 495 new EV chargers

A day after an Ipsos poll showed a majority of British Columbians oppose the implementation of new-car EV sales mandates, Ottawa announced it will help fund several projects that will improve EV charging availability in the province, supporting the installation of 495 chargers.


Manitoba Hydro blames drought for continuing losses, files for 3-year rate increases

Manitoba Hydro’s 2024-25 annual report shows a consolidated net loss of $63 million for the fiscal year ended March 31, 2025. This comes on the heels of a consolidated net loss of $157 million the previous fiscal year. President & CEO Allan Danroth says there’s just not enough water. “This is the second low-water year in a row, and third Manitoba Hydro has experienced in four years,” he said.

WSIB reducing average premium rate for Ontario employers in 2026

Ontario’s Workplace Safety & Insurance Board announced the average premium rate for businesses in 2026 will be reduced to $1.23 per $100 of insurable payroll, down $0.02 from this year. While this does not sound like a lot, the most important takeaway is the fact that rates continue to go down. In fact, this marks the seventh time in the last 10 years the WSIB has reduced the average premium rate, reducing it by more than 50% since 2017. » Read more
