After more than four decades in the electrical industry, and a decade as president & CEO of Southwire, Rich Stinson announced he is retiring. Meanwhile, company president & COO Norman Adkins also announced his retirement, in April 2026. Ganesh Ramaswamy will join the company in December as president & CEO, with Stinson staying on as an advisor.

The U.S. Department of Energy announced the termination of 321 financial awards supporting 223 projects, totalling approximately $7.56 billion US. The DoE determined these projects “did not adequately advance the nation’s energy needs, were not economically viable, and would not provide a positive return on investment of taxpayer dollars”. Some say these terminations constitute a partisan attack against Democrats and Democratic-leaning states.

In an Open Letter to Prime Minister Carney, dozens of business leaders operating in Canada’s EV industry are asking the government to “stay the course” with Canada’s EV Availability Standard (EVAS), insisting that a review could undermine investor confidence and stagnate electrification.

The total value of building permits issued in Canada in August 2025 was down $139.2 million (-1.2%) to $11.6 billion, Statistics Canada reports. Notable declines recorded in Ontario and Alberta were tempered by increases in British Columbia and Quebec.
