The Government of Saskatchewan released its “Saskatchewan First Energy Security Strategy and Supply Plan,” which charts a path “for a reliable and affordable power future,” the linchpin of which will be extending coal plant operations and, eventually, deploying new nuclear. “This plan is based in reality,” said Minister Jeremy Harrison.

The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) unveiled the final design for the province’s Restructured Energy Market (REM). Following direction from the provincial government, and after more than two years of industry engagement, AESO says the REM represents a strategic redesign of Alberta’s existing energy-only market.

The total value of investment in building construction edged up 0.1% to $22.8 billion in August 2025, reports Statistics Canada. The non-residential sector edged up $22.9 million, while the residential sector increased slightly by $10.5 million. Year over year, investment in building construction grew 8.7% in August.
