Sagamok learning centre undertaking solar, energy efficiency renovation project

Nearly 40 years after its establishment, the Biidaaban Kinoomaagegamik education facility is being upgraded to help make it energy efficient and accessible. “The Sagamok Anishnawbek are very pleased to be participating in this Lifelong Learning Centre Solar Array, Energy Efficiency and Inclusivity Renovation Project,” said Chief Angus Toulouse, Sagamok Anishnawbek. “This $2,200,000 project is in line and consistent with our traditional values, customs and beliefs [...]”.


Zero-carbon Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Centre closer to realization

The Clayoquot Sound Biosphere Centre is even closer to realization, thanks to funding of over $7.1 million from the federal government, the Clayoquot Biosphere Trust (CBT), and private and corporate contributions. Spanning 9400 sq. ft., the centre aims to meet zero-carbon building design standards, says CBT, “and embody a holistic approach to sustainability using the Living Building Challenge framework”. » Read more
