The Joe Mavrinac Community Complex in Kirkland Lake, Ont., is on its way to becoming more energy-efficient and accessible, thanks to $2.3 million in funding from Green and Inclusive Community Buildings (GICB) program, and another $598,598 from the Town of Kirkland Lake.

The Alberta Indigenous Clean Energy Initiative (AICEI) is receiving $926,450 from PrairiesCan to support four renewable energy generation or energy efficiency projects that are led by, or benefit, First Nation and Métis communities in the province. The federal minister for PrairiesCan, Hon. Dan Vandal, announced these initiatives as part of $21.9 million in federal spending that will benefit 13 projects in Alberta.
