Read all about it! Norfolk’s Waterford library upgrading for energy efficiency

Norfolk County Public Library’s branch in Waterford, Ont., is receiving $300,000 from the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program for work that will reduce the facility’s operating costs and emissions. The upgrades will not only reduce the branch’s environmental footprint, said Mayor Amy Martin, but also deliver “significant cost savings and operational efficiencies”


BOMA Canada wants to Enspire you to undertake deep energy retrofits

BOMA Canada launched a new program to help mid-tier buildings invest in deep retrofits. Supported by Natural Resources Canada as part of its Deep Retrofit Accelerator Initiative, “Enspire” is designed to elevate awareness and bolster capacity for advancing deep energy retrofit projects within the commercial real estate sector. “Our team is thrilled about this new program,” said BOMA Canada president & CEO Benjamin Shinewald, adding that “it’s the perfect opportunity for mid-tier buildings to invest in deep retrofits.”


Bay St. George YMCA poised to reduce energy consumption by 80%

The Bay St. George YMCA in Stephenville, N.L., is getting upgraded thanks to $2.3 million in funding from the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program. Among other upgrades, the building will see a series of energy efficiency improvements, including the removal of the existing asbestos cladding and the installation of new insulation and siding.

Montreal Port Authority and SOFIAC target three buildings for efficiency and decarbonization

To enhance energy efficiency and reduce its carbon footprint, the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) is partnering with SOFIAC—an investment fund that helps companies implement energy transition and decarbonization projects without any upfront investment. “This project marks a crucial step in our sustainability efforts and brings us closer to our goal of carbon neutrality,” said MPA’s Benoit Viens. The project will target MPA’s three main buildings: The Cité du Havre building (MPA’s headquarters), Grand Quay of the Port of Montreal, and the building that houses infrastructure management, mechanical workshops, and rail operations. » Read more
