More than 200,000 Ontario residents have enrolled in the Save on Energy Peak Perks program, a residential demand-response initiative of Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) that contributes to the reliability of the grid by reducing peak demand on hot summer days. IESO explains that participants help the grid by participating in time-limited thermostat adjustments during the summer months.

Southwire Company LLC has invested in Ndustrial.Io Inc., an AI-powered energy intensity platform for industry. Referring to the deal, Southwire’s vice-president of operational sustainability Se Oh said “[Ndustrial’s] energy management platform empowers industrial facilities to optimize production processes, significantly reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions”.

ABB reports that one of its largest sites in the United States is moving forward on a range of initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint and save over $150,000 in energy costs annually. Located in Florence, S.C., the facility provides aftermarket support and service for a range of power and electricity distribution equipment, such as switchgear, breakers, and others. Customers include electric utilities, power generation facilities, industrial operations, and commercial businesses. The facility has not only implemented various energy-savings measures, but is now also using software to monitor and reduce power consumption.

A new board of directors and a new CEO have been named for EnerQuality, an organization that certifies energy-efficient housing. EnerQuality was founded by the Ontario Home Builders’ Association (OHBA) and Canadian Energy Efficiency Alliance (CEEA) in 1998. OHBA acquired full ownership in September 2024, and has been positioning the company to lead its external education arm and deliver training to OHBA members and the industry at large.
