Manufacturing to continue during Ontario lockdown

Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) welcomes today’s announcement by the Government to allow manufacturing operations to continue operating while expanding rapid testing availability for the sector. This announcement will allow Ontario’s 40,000 manufacturers and their 750,000 employees continue to safely work and produce goods for domestic and international markets.


Energy-efficient building pioneer Harold Orr named to Order of Canada

A Saskatoon engineer who was a key driver in energy efficiency and conservation in homes is being made a member of the Order of Canada on Friday. Harold Orr was part of a team that put together the Saskatchewan Conservation House project back in 1977, during an acute energy crisis. The team from the Saskatchewan Research Council was tasked with building a solar house that could withstand Saskatchewan’s cold winters and hot summers.


Existing residential projects and renovations allowed to go forward during Ontario lockdown

Ontario premier Doug Ford has released a list of construction projects that will be deemed essential during the emergency lockdown starting Jan. 13. New residential construction where a footing permit has been granted will be allowed to go forward, as will residential renovation work.


Promax founder Royer passes

We are sad to announce that Daniel Royer, former owner of Groupe Promax, a division of Screenco in Quebec City, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at an early age of 71.


Lewin joins as technical director at Sawdac

Sawdac has announced that Phil Lewin has joined the Sawdac team as the technical director, effective Jan. 1, 2021.


SAWDAC recommends caution accepting work under Ontario lockdown

The Siding Window and Door Association of Canada (SAWDAC) has issued a statement advising its members and other window and door installers in Ontario to exercise caution interpreting the new lockdown orders going into effect Jan. 14.
