The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) announces the launch of a new online home for fenestration safety resources created by, and for, FGIA members. The Safety Library is assembled by the FGIA Fenestration Safety Committee, which was formed in 2020 to provide members with safety information and education related to the fenestration industry.

The Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes has released a set of draft proposals that would see future editions of the National Building Code and the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings include requirements limiting the greenhouse gases emitted by providing power and heat to the building, and limiting the greenhouse gases emitted as a matter of embodied carbon in the manufacture, transportation, maintenance and disposal of its building materials.

The monthly total seasonally adjusted value of building permits in Canada decreased 7.3% in December to $10.3 billion. Declines were posted in both the residential and the non-residential sectors. On a constant dollar basis (2012=100), the total value of building permits fell 7.4% to $6.1 billion.
