Fenestration Canada has announced that following addition of Fenestration Canada’s Manitoba Chapter, FenCon will return to Manitoba from April 9 and 10, 2025, at the Winnipeg Convention Center. Kicking off the conference will be a mixer on April 9 with a one-day education and exhibition on April 10th. Focusing on the window and door manufacturing industry, the event aims to promote continuous improvement by sharing knowledge among professionals in the field.

Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) corporate member companies have until March 31, 2025, to apply for the Bill Briese Educational Engagement Grant Program, which awards a $1,000 grant per company to use toward a first-time FGIA conference registration or enrollment in an FGIA education program. This company-focused grant, sponsored by GED Integrated Solutions, is aimed at extending education opportunities, building engagement within FGIA, expediting integration into the industry and furthering professional growth and advancement.

Presentations are invited for the 2025 ASTM International Conference on Advanced Manufacturing (ICAM 2025), hosted by the ASTM International Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) and supported by more than a dozen ASTM technical committees. The conference will be held Oct. 6 to 10 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev. The government of Canada has announced that it has reached agreements with 23 local governments in Ontario to accelerate the construction of over 4,200 homes over the next three years. This work will help spur the construction of over 44,700 homes over the next decade. These agreements under the second round of the Housing Accelerator Fund will provide close to $138 million to eliminate barriers to building housing.

Donald Trump gets inaugurated on Monday and has promised to impose 25-percent tariffs on all foreign goods entering the United States. It's created a firestorm of concern across the country and for good reason. Should the tariffs actually be imposed as described for any appreciable period of time, economists are predicting a recession in Canada to the tune of 2.5 to 4.5 percent of GDP. Whether this actually happens is almost totally unclear. Trump made tariffs a centerpiece of his campaign last year and won.
