Nick Dorken,
Kitchener Fire Department, Ontario
Born and raised in rural southwestern Ontario, Nick is an extremely passionate member of the fire service who demonstrates integrity, dedication and believes strongly in life-long learning. Graduating from the Pre-Service Firefighting program at Conestoga College in Kitchener, Ont., in 2004, Nick entered the fire service as a volunteer firefighter in his home-town of Innerkip, Ont., the following year. In 2006, Nick was hired as a full-time firefighter by the Kitchener Fire Department where he has developed his career, currently holding the rank of captain and leading its technical rescue team. Committed to professional development, Nick has obtained NFPA certifications in Fire Officer 2, Fire Instructor 2, Incident Safety Officer, Public Educator 2, Public Information Officer, along with technician level rope, water, ice and HAZMAT specialty disciplines. Most recently, Nick has returned to part-time university level education and received a graduate diploma in Emergency Management and is beginning a Masters degree in Public Safety at Wilfrid Laurier University.
Monique Rollin,
(Ret.) Inspector
Retired Inspector Monique Rollin was a member of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service with over 31 years of service. She was the first female member promoted to the rank of Inspector. Rollin now currently holds an executive position with the Ontario Women in Law Enforcement. A professional consultant, Rollin is also Vice President and Director of Training for Canadian Critical Incident Inc. and develops curriculum and delivers training to Incident Commanders, Crisis Negotiators, 911 Communicators, Front-line Supervisors and first responders on de-escalation, crisis negotiations, major incident response and incident command.
Harold Wax,
Senior Director and Chief Security Officer, BGIS Global Integrated Solutions
Harold Wax has worked in the corporate security field for more than 20 years. At BGIS, he is currently responsible for leading the organization in the areas of physical security, personnel security, investigations, vendor security compliance, business continuity and emergency response. Wax has been an Auxiliary Member of the Ontario Provincial Police since 1996, and has held various roles throughout the province including Constable, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant/Unit Commander, Regional Sergeant Major, and Inspector/Regional Director. He also continues to volunteer with the OPP and is currently assigned to the Highway Safety Division.
Wax was awarded the Province of Ontario Auxiliary Policing Medal for Long Service and Good Conduct in 2018, and in 2019 was awarded the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.
