London firefighters ratify deal with city

After six years without a contract, firefighters in London, Ont., have reached an agreement with the city. The London Professional Fire Fighters Association has ratified a collective agreement Friday night during a meeting between the two sides.


Study says Fort McMurray firefighters face respiratory issues

A new study suggests that one in five firefighters who battled the massive wildfire in Fort McMurray, Alta., last year reported respiratory problems. The study analyzed health records of 355 firefighters between six weeks and four months after the fire.


Winnipeg to expand safety inspections

A Winnipeg civic committee endorsed a proposed new fire prevention bylaw, which would impose mandatory fire safety inspection standards for food trucks and illegal rooming houses.


Former firefighter receives jail time for stealing from charity

A long-serving volunteer firefighter with the Mount Stewart Fire Department in P.E.I was sentenced to three months in jail for stealing thousands of dollars in charity funds intended for Cystic Fibrosis Canada.
