RCMP have confirmed that Cache Creek, B.C., Fire Chief Clayton Cassidy was found dead Saturday night. Around 10:30 p.m., members of Ashcroft Fire Rescue alerted the RCMP that they had found Cassidy's body in the creek during a daily patrol of the area. Cassidy had been missing since May 5, and was presumed dead after several days.

An Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada audit has found that 53 First Nations reserves lack adequate resources to fight fires. The internal audit identified 14 “underserviced” sites Saskatchewan and Manitoba and 39 “limited service sites” in Ontario and British Columbia. The executive director of the Aboriginal Firefighters Association of Canada told CBC News he believes the number of communities in need of greater fire protection is much higher.

A massive six-alarm fire at a recycling facility in an industrial area near the Toronto waterfront, which began early last Thursday, was officially put out on Sunday, according to Toronto Fire Services.

Arson investigators with Ottawa Police Service are looking into the cause behind a $1-million fire in a suburban neighbourhood southwest of the city. Sixteen homes, which were under construction, burned to the ground early Monday morning.
