Canada Post has unveiled a new stamp that honours the country's firefighters for saving lives and protecting property and the environment with their skills and courage. The stamp was unveiled in Halifax with the participation of Halifax Regional Fire & Emergency, Canada's oldest fire fighting department, established in 1754.

Members of the London Professional Firefighters Association in Ontario voted to restore confidence in deputy fire chief Jack Burt. In March, the members voted that they had "no confidence" in Burt, largely because he was associated with then-fire chief John Kobarda. Kobarda retired as London's fire chief that same month amid complaints of a culture of workplace harassment, bullying and retaliation.
