Vancouver firefighters say they’re short-staffed when compared with “industry best practices” and need another 21 firefighters per shift or 84 altogether. Vancouver Firefighters Union spokesperson says there were 200 more fires last year over 2016 and they responded to 6,200 overdoses.

DeSorcy says in the September issue of Fire Fighting in Canada leaving the public with a positive experience on what can be their worst day, strengthens the fire service’s reputation and brand, and that’s why it is important to communicate a customer-first standard to the members of a department.
