Halifax chief calls for more firefighters

Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency took a request for adjusted response time targets and $1.6 million in funding to add firefighters to staff the Fall River station 24 hours a day, seven days a week to regional council on Dec. 11.


Fire at National Steelcar causes $750,000 in damage

Hamilton, Ont., firefighters were called to National Steelcar for an early morning blaze Sunday. Fire officials believe a spark ignited combustible materials in the company’s dust collection system.
