More than 200 young men and women are learning what it takes to join the B.C. Wildfire Service. Potential recruits will test their physical stamina and mental endurance during an eight-day course this spring with the hopes of joining the ranks of the B.C. Wildfire Service.

A remote Indigenous community in northern Ontario where five people died in a house fire last week is so overwhelmed with grief that it has declared an emergency. The blaze on May 2 killed a foster mother, her biological daughter and three children she was raising at the Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug First Nation, also known as Big Trout Lake.

The NFPA 1971 particulate-blocking test does not evaluate the impact of the hood’s design and construction on its particulate protection performance. For example, the seams of the finished hood are not tested to determine whether particulates are able to pass through the stitch holes.
Gore contracted with an independent, third-party laboratory to perform a smoke test on the seams of several particulate-blocking hoods, including the GORE® Particulate Hood. The results of these tests were very interesting.
