Forests in northern Ontario could be growing less resilient to fire

“Short-interval fires” have scientists with Natural Resources Canada concerned. A new study has shown that the increase in forest fire activity means that forests are becoming less resilient to fire.

Calgary house fire leaves man in life-threatening condition

A man is in life-threatening condition after a house fire in Calgary. Calgary fire, EMS and police responded to reports of a fire around 10:20 a.m. Sunday. A large volume of smoke and flames were visible at the rear of the residence when firefighters arrived. » Learn more

One person dead after Thunder Bay, Ont., house fire

One person is dead after a weekend house fire, Thunder Bay firefighters said. Firefighters were called to a home at about 3:15 a.m. Sunday morning with reports of a structural fire. Initial 911 calls indicated people may still be inside the home. » Learn more
