Today, every fire truck in service is equipped with two ground ladders: a roof ladder and an extension ladder. Usually the combo set is a 14-foot roof ladder and a 24-foot extension ladder, though this can vary depending upon the specific requirements of the department and truck. Every ladder, regardless of length, has reach limitations so firefighters must know how to work within them.

Residents of Spiritwood, Sask., have lost internet, phone and cell service after a fire at a SaskTel building on Sunday, the RCMP say. The service disruption has also affected 911 service.

A 19-year-old has been arrested following a fire on a commercial fishing boat in Port Stanley, Ont., Elgin County OPP said. The boat was fully engulfed in flames, said police, by the time emergency services responded to the harbour at 11:45 p.m. Saturday.

The International Paper wood room building in Grand Prairie, Alta., caught fire on Saturday afternoon. At approximately 3:30 p.m., the County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service Dunes and Clairmont Stations responded to the reported structure fire.
