Winnipeg firefighters' union wants province to take over ambulance services

The union representing Winnipeg firefighters said it’s time the province took over ambulance services in the city. Currently, the city provides the service and bills the province. The two sides are now in negotiations for a new funding deal which is past due.


Shinimicas chief says district will be without fire service this winter

The fire chief in Shinimicas, on Nova Scotia’s north shore, says bureaucracy is holding up construction of a new fire hall to replace one that burned down in April. He said it means there will be no fire coverage for the district this winter.


Bradford approves next phase of shared fire services study

In a meeting of council last week, Phase 2 of the joint fire services study between Bradford West Gwillimbury and Innisfil was unanimously approved by all BWG council members.
