Mississauga firefighters to administer COVID vaccine shots

Firefighters in Mississauga, Ont., will soon administer vaccines to residents as the city prepares for the possibility that staff at its mass immunization clinics may be redeployed to support hospitals overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients. CP24 reports.


Cochrane designated one of the host locations for the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge

In Cochrane, Alta., the seventh annual Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge in support of Wellspring Calgary will be taking place from May 2 to 15 with Cochrane hosting one of the staircase locations. Cochrane Today reports.


MD council rekindles fire cost discussion

In Alberta’s Municipal District of Pincher Creek, residents were billed $66,000 for last summer’s Snake Trail fire. The situation ignited debate around how fair the Pincher Creek Emergency Services Commission’s firefighting rates were. The municipal district council is also reviewing with the commission an alternative invoicing structure so the municipality would no longer need to play the middleman in dealing with bills.
