Alberta deploys 81 firefighters to help battle wildfires in Ontario

Alberta has deployed 81 firefighters to help battle wildfires in northern Ontario. On Thursday, 41 wildland firefighters were deployed to the province and on Sunday another 38 firefighters and two support staff joined them. CBC News reports.


Cluny fire hall to close permanently

Wheatland County council in Alberta has decided to close the doors of the Cluny fire hall for good due to a lack of volunteers stepping up to man the facility. The Toronto Star reports.


Volunteer Gravenhurst firefighter awarded for off-duty heroics

Now in her fourth year as a volunteer firefighter at Gravenhurst Fire Department in Ontario, Aysha Tryon has been awarded the Fire Chief Commendation for saving seven people trapped in an SUV. My Muskoka Now reports.
