Canadian firefighter dies battling fire in Pennsylvania

Sean DeMuynck, a volunteer firefighter who won the Memorial Cup as a video coach with the Windsor Spitfires, has died while battling a fire in Pennsylvania.


Youth charged with arson in connection with Alberta church blaze

A Roman Catholic church near Bonnyville, Alta. has been destroyed after a fire was “deliberately set” Friday evening, police say. RCMP say they responded alongside Bonnyville fire services to Our Lady of Mercy on Kehewin Cree Nation around 9:45 p.m. Friday which was already in flames.


Firefighters top list of Canada’s most respected professions

A recent survey put firefighters right at the top of Canada’s most respected professions. Firefighters scored ninety-two point five out of one hundred in the nationally representative poll, followed by nurses, farmers and medical doctors as the most respected jobs.


B.C.’s wildfire service battles 77 new fires over weekend
