In Ontario, Mississauga’s Fire Chief Deryn Rizzi has been honoured among Canada’s 100 most powerful women in a new list from the advocacy group Women’s Executive Network (WXN).


P.E.I providing emergency generators to fire departments

Environment, Energy and Climate Action, in partnership with P.E.I’s Fire Marshal’s Office, is distributing emergency generators to fire departments across the province for use in Island communities.

Fire dispatchers in Prince George, B.C., will soon be answering emergency calls from 100 communities across the province, including the Central Kootenay Regional District, almost 900 kilometres away.


N.S. conference raises awareness about first responders’ mental health

Last Saturday, the 8th annual Helping the Helpers Awareness and Education Day will see roughly 300 first responders and frontline workers who are dealing with PTSD or other psychological workplace injuries, and their families, gather at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, N.S., for a day of sharing, education and support.
