Federal wildfire training program now accepting applications

The federal government is seeking applicants for its Fighting and Managing Wildfire in a Changing Climate Program — Training Fund. The program aims to train 1,000 firefighters to support community-based mitigation, preparation and response to wildfires.


Saskatoon Fire Chief Morgan Hackl announces retirement

Fire Chief Morgan Hackl is retiring. He has been a member of Saskatoon Fire Department for 36 years, starting as a firefighter and moving up to captain. He later served as battalion chief and assistant chief before being promoted to his current role of chief in 2015.


Strathcona County implements Next Generation 9-1-1 network

Strathcona County’s Emergency Communications Centre transitioned to the Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) network on Oct. 26.


City of Saint John says American Iron and Metal owes $219K for firefighting costs

The City of Saint John has submitted a bill of nearly $219K to American Iron and Metal for costs related to fighting a massive scrapyard fire three months ago following an audit of fire fighting materials used and time spent fighting the Sept. 14 fire.
