An assistant fire chief with Vancouver Fire Rescue Services is recovering in a Hong Kong hospital after contracting an infection commonly known as flesh-eating disease, forcing the amputation of part of his leg during a family vacation.


Vacant Winnipeg building hit by multiple fires since summer

Another fire burned at the vacant Vulcan Iron Works foundry on Saturday in Winnipeg. The building was previously gutted by a fire in July 2023. It then sustained further damage in a blaze in September 2023. Several other minor fires have also taken place at this same building.
