Wildfire season close to 10-year average heading into the peak summer months

Federal officials say rainfall from the remnants of Hurricane Beryl that has caused flash floods in the Maritimes is also lowering the risk of wildfires in eastern Canada. So far, this wildfire season is less severe than the record-setting year in 2023. But the risk is high in particular for B.C., Alberta, Yukon and the Northwest Territories.


Farm Credit Canada provides $12,000 grant to Hanover Fire Department

The Hanover Fire Department has received a $12,000 grant from Farm Credit Canada (FCC) through their 2023 AgriSpirit Fund.


Beaver Lake fire station completes consolidation into Whitefish Station: Greater Sudbury

The Beaver Lake fire station in Greater Sudbury has been consolidated into the Whitefish station. The change in reporting location for firefighters, which came into effect on July 4, stems from one of nine resolutions related to the fire service passed by the Greater Sudbury city council on June 27 and July 11, 2023.


City of Kimberly begins targeted wildfire risk reduction project in WUI

The city of Kimberly in British Columbia is introducing a targeted wildfire risk reduction project in the Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) southwest of the community.
