The province of British Columbia and the B.C. General Employees’ Union (BCGEU) have reached an agreement-in-principle to enhance the pensions for wildland fire fighting personnel employed directly by the B.C. Wildfire Service (BCWS).


Federal government transferring land use planning and development authority to Jasper

The government of Canada has introduced legislation enabling the transfer of land use planning and development authorities from Parks Canada to the municipality of Jasper in the wake of the July 2024 wildfire that destroyed over 30 per cent of the infrastructure in the townsite.


Central York Fire Services renames station to honour late fire chief

The Central York Fire Services have renamed Fire Station 4-5 to the Ian Laing Headquarters, honouring their late fire chief of the same name.
