Port Moody announced the disbanding of its local volunteer firefighter association, which has provided the city’s firefighters with reinforcement during emergencies for more than a century.


Government of Ontario investing $30 million to support cancer prevention initiatives

The government of Ontario is investing $30 million over three years to provide 374 municipal fire departments with funding to support cancer prevention initiatives. The funding, provided through the Fire Protection Grant, will be used to purchase equipment and infrastructure upgrades to help reduce the long-term effects of exposure to fire-related contaminants and chemicals, the province reported in a press release.
