Fire destroys WD Plastics facility in Saskatchewan

A fire on May 7 at the manufacturing plant of WD Plastics Ltd., a custom molder in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, has caused major damage, with the Saskatoon Fire Department saying the building “is expected to be a total loss.”


Metro Chiefs hold 2025 annual meeting

The Metropolitan “Metro” Fire Chiefs Association, a section of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), recently held its 2025 annual meeting, with over 160 Metro chiefs attending from Canada, the U.S., Australia, Belgium, Ecuador, the UK, Slovenia, South Africa, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Mexico.


2 firefighters taken to hospital after 3-alarm fire in Cabbagetown

Two firefighters were taken to hospital after a three-alarm blaze at a home in Cabbagetown early Monday morning. Toronto Fire was called at 12:20 a.m. where a fire broke out at a home on Aberdeen Avenue, near Ontario Street. More than 30 fire vehicles attended the scene of the fire, which has since been knocked down.


Firefighters battle large blaze in North Transcona industrial zone

Emergency crews are actively fighting a large grass fire that broke out earlier today in the 600 block of Gunn Road, in Winnipeg’s north Transcona area.

Most engines and pumpers are equipped with a deck gun and/or a ground monitor for defensive operations. A defensive operation occurs when significant fire is present within a structure, making any interior operations impossible.
