Saskatchewan and Manitoba are both under provincial state of emergencies due to wildfires. With a hot dry summer in the forecast, and an aggressive start underway, wildfire season could be a very tough one indeed for Canada.

The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) declared a provincial State of Emergency on May 29 due to the wildfires affecting communities across the province. As of that morning, there were 17 active wildfires in Saskatchewan and 15 communities had been evacuated. As of May 29, there have been 206 wildfires, well above the five-year average of 125.
