An innovative solution to decontaminate firefighters at the scene was unveiled at the Fire Chiefs Association of BC’s 2025 BC Fire Expo, held at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre on June 8 and 9. The decon apparatus is the vision of Campbell River Fire Department’s (CRFD) deputy chief of training and safety, John Baker, and the department’s internal build team.

When it comes to high rise fire fighting tactics, most fire departments have standard operating procedures (SOPs) or standard operating guidelines (SOGs). The City of Belleville has appointed Kyle Christopher as deputy fire chief. Deputy Chief Christopher began his career with Belleville Fire and Emergency Services in 2005 as a volunteer at Station #4 and progressed through the service, most recently leading the fire prevention division as Senior Fire Prevention Officer.
