Who could anticipate the summer of 2020 going the way it did? However, it provided a once-in-a-lifetime learning opportunity. Stories of farms pivoting to serve their customers in different ways, from virtual farm tours to contactless pick-up, were welcome news. Regardless of what was revealed, seeing agriculture being discussed on bigger platforms opened a gateway for understanding.

The Government of Canada is investing a total of $35 million to improve health and safety on farms through the Emergency On-Farm Support Fund. Funding is intended to help farmers better protect workers during COVID-19. All provinces and territories except for British Columbia are still accepting applications, which are reviewed as they are received; priority is given to farms at the highest risk of an outbreak.
