Precision pruning and bud-counting have been pitched as an economic strategy for apple production by Cornell University’s Terence Robinson for years. Thanks to a four-year, $4.8 million grant from the USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture, he and colleagues across the United States will be able to develop this strategy more fully.
