Ontario fruit and vegetable updates – 6/2

The last week of May brought cool temperatures and soggy weather across the province. Here's the latest fruit and vegetable crop updates from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness.


Walmart Canada collaborates with Lufa Farms to sell local produce in Montreal store

Walmart Canada has partnered up with Lufa Farms to produce and sell local produce at the Marché Central Walmart Supercentre in Montreal, Que. In its 127,000 square-foot hydroponic greenhouse situated on the store's rooftop, tomatoes, cucumbers and bell peppers are grown and will head straight to the produce section for purchase.


Free molecular herbicide resistance testing now available for Ontario growers

Weeds are enough trouble as it is, but add herbicide resistance into the mix and effective management needs to be taken to a whole other level. Back again for 2025,  growers can submit leaf samples from weeds for molecular herbicide testing to confirm for herbicide resistance.
