For 40 years, the CGC has provided Canadian growers an annual conference rich with education and networking opportunities. It is, therefore, with disappointment that the conference announces the cancellation of its physical event this year due to due to factors resulting from the COVID-19 global pandemic. All is not lost, however, as a select number of speaker sessions will be offered virtually.
While not a replacement for the 2020 conference, the virtual program, slated for the original 2020 dates, will provide support for growers and the industry by featuring timely and innovative information.
“The cancellation of the physical conference is disappointing but it had become apparent that the CGC would not be able to provide the robust conference experience that growers, exhibitors and speakers had come to expect nor could we assure a healthy and safe environment” explained CGC Board Chair, Steve Droog.
This year’s theme “Beyond 2020” is all the more appropriate as the CGC looks forward to hosting members of the greenhouse community in person again in 2021. More details on this year’s virtual program will be released as they become available.
