2020 Sawaya Gardens Open House Week

Due to COVID-19 guidelines, advanced registration is required for all visitors. Registrants can choose between two timeslots each day: 8am to 12pm or 1pm to 4pm

Close to 3,000 varieties will be on display, says organizer Melhem Sawaya, including new introductions, foliage, tropicals, mixes, hangers, container vegetables and more. With temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius for weeks now, Sawaya says this is the first time in the trials’ 20-year history where they’ve had to water plants twice in one day.

“Come and see what’s surviving this heat,” he says. Conditions have been sunny, hot and highly humid – a real test of heat-tolerant varieties and an experiment for shade-loving ones.
