A new intake of the Agricultural Clean Technology (ACT) Program – Adoption Stream will open on June 1, 2023. This new intake of the ACT Adoption Stream will provide non-repayable grants between $25,000 and $2 million to help producers purchase and install equipment that reduces greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions or provides other associated environmental benefits.

The governments of Canada and Ontario are investing more than $2.3 million over three years through the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (Sustainable CAP) to support 4-H Ontario programming. This funding will allow 4-H Ontario to continue to engage youth interested in a career in the agriculture and agri-food industries.

Kori Kuryvial and Emily Freiberg are the Farm Family Outreach team and that team oversees the Farm Family Outreach program that was launched by Family and Community Support Services in February 2023. The Farm Family Outreach program was founded because farm families have unique opportunities and challenges presented to them and as such, “standard” support programs often do not properly address their concerns or properly support them.

In the University of Guelph trials, annuals are tested in both containers and under landscape conditions in multiple locations within an hour’s drive of the University of Guelph. While not perfect, this multi-site testing process can help us picture how different cultivars perform under different growing conditions in southern Ontario.

In Nova Scotia, the provincial government announced new funding for a greenhouse in New Glasgow that will support adults with intellectual disabilities. The government is investing $1.4 million dollars into Summer Street Industries’ agricultural project to build a new, three-bay, all-season, fully accessible greenhouse.

Royal Brinkman Canada has hired Josh MacIntyre as its new sales manager. Josh will oversee the technical sales team based out of both the Guelph and Kingsville offices in Ontario. MacIntyre has over 15 years of sales experience in plant nutrition products, bio stimulants, and biologicals. He attended the University of Guelph, where he studied agriculture with a focus on plant science.
