There is a shortage of Canadian greenhouse bell peppers throughout the industry. Industry insiders say it is mainly due to fusarium causing a large amount of loss of pepper plants. The season will end earlier this year, due to disease, at the end of October-early November. Meanwhile, demand is steady for bell peppers. Improved finishing of potted Hydrangea with Philips LED toplighting at Van Belle

Van Belle Nursery installed Philips LED toplighting linear in their Abbotsford, British Columbia greenhouse. Head Grower, Pablo Costa noted that Van Belle was able to reduce flowering time of their potted Hydrangea from 14 to 16 weeks to 12 to 13 weeks under the Philips LEDs. Costa also noted improvements in flower color, commenting about the LEDs, they are a “game changer.”
