Construction association taking Toronto to court over Green Standard

The Residential Construction Council of Ontario (RESCON) has filed a legal application in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice against the City of Toronto over the escalation of the Toronto Green Standard (TGS) performance measures. RESCON is seeking a mandatory order that would enforce the Building Code Act and prohibit the city from imposing building regulations on planning applications because they are beyond the legal authority of the city.

Ontario fuels rise in building permits value: Stats Canada

The total value of building permits in Canada increased by $1.3 billion (+11.5%) to $13.0 billion in September, reaching the second-highest level since the start of the new series in January 2017. Ontario's construction intentions grew by $1.2 billion (+25.0%) to $5.9 billion in September 2024, leading gains in both the non-residential and residential sectors. On a constant dollar basis (2017=100), the total value of building permits rose 11.6% in September. Ontario's institutional construction intentions push up the non-residential sector.

The Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA) has released the third edition of FenestrationMasters®, FGIA’s flagship education program. FenestrationMasters offers professional certification and education that covers the full breadth of the fenestration industry, including performance standards, products and materials, test methods and code requirements. With updated visuals and interactive elements, the third edition now includes new coverage of the NAFS Canadian Supplement, Canadian codes and energy, and insulating glass.


NGA launches new MyGlassClass.com online learning experience

The National Glass Association has announced a new, enhanced online learning experience. MyGlassClass.com features glazier training for installing company personnel. MyGlassFAB features fabricator training for production personnel. All MyGlassClass.com and MyGlassFAB courses are now freeto NGA members. NGA’s Board of Directors has announced that all employees of member companies can access the courses at no cost (excluding OSHA and UL Courses). MyGlassClass.com has new and updated content, including courses on frameless shower enclosure design, hardware, and installation.
