Ontario pot shop applicants seek appeal after challenge was dismissed

Eleven people who were disqualified from applying to open a cannabis retail store in Ontario has filed a notice that it is seeking leave to appeal the divisional court decision, saying the three-judge panel erred in finding the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario acted reasonably in interpreting the licensing rules.

Hexo cutting 200 jobs as it looks for ‘long-term viability’

The announcement comes two weeks after the cannabis company cut its net revenue forecast for the fourth quarter and withdrew its 2020 outlook, citing factors including slower-than-expected pot store rollouts and early signs of pricing pressure.

CannTrust cutting 140 jobs as it works to regain cannabis licences

The company says there will be a series of phased layoffs between late October and the end of the year. The cuts are expected to result in monthly cash savings of about $400,000 and cost up to $800,000 in severance payments if the employees are not recalled within 35 weeks.
