The Village of Drake, SK is located 125km East of Saskatoon. It was founded in 1908 and is home to a community of approximately 210 people. The economy includes farming, ranching and mining.
Being far from cities and certain services, the village has to ensure that products used are guaranteed and serviced regularly because the cost of failure can be very high. Preventative maintenance is a big deal and when it comes to the water supply for the village, only the best and most reliable products and partners are used.
Potable water is sourced from wells that pump water from underground and the village has to submit a Drinking Water Quality and Compliance Report to ensure the safety of all residents and visitors.
When it came to installing two wells for the village in 2021, TSL Mechanical from Lanigan, were chosen for the project. These wells had to each produce about 80gpm and installed down to 100ft below ground level.
The engineers for the project chose to go with the Goulds 85GS30 – 3hp Submersible pump and motor. These pumps are stainless steel so totally non-corrosive which is essential in remote areas.
The engineers also specified Boreline FlexiRiser for this project. As Dustin Bernauer of TSL Mechanical explains, “Boreline is the only reliable product that is totally non-corrosive and easier and safer to work with than rigid column”. It is also lighter and easy to handle making pump installation and retrieval quick and easy. “In the long run, Boreline is best”, he continues.
The Village of Drake confirms that the Boreline is the ideal long-term solution for the Village. If a pump goes down, TSL Mechanical can be here at the drop of a hat, and a new pump can be in operation in just a few hours.
Dave Wall from Aquifer Distribution Ltd in Saskatoon SK has been selling Boreline FlexiRiser in Saskatchewan since the early 2000’s. He insists on Boreline because it is incredibly durable, easy for the contractors to work with and is also NSF Certified with a 50 Year Product Warranty.
