Lake Erie online tracker targets phosphorus reduction efforts

The Great Lakes Commission has launched ErieStat, a website that tracks progress toward the Canada-U.S. shared goal of reducing phosphorus in Lake Erie by 40 per cent, and reports how much of the nutrient is entering the lake from select rivers.


Nano-decorations keep water clean: study

Researchers from the University of Utah, Columbia University and Ecuador have published a study analyzing how contaminants – including bacteria and viruses – move through ground water and how decorative nanoscience could help water managers better prepare for and respond to outbreaks caused by rain and floods. The Atlantic First Nations Water Authority has taken its first steps with the appointment of a First Nations board of directors from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. CBC News reports.


Toronto forum to discuss water security
