Possible lead contamination in drinking water at Wells, B.C., says district CAO

The District of Wells in British Columbia is advising pregnant women, babies and children not to drink the water in the district due to potential lead contamination. The district is working closely with Northern Health to confirm the contamination. The Quesnel Cariboo Observer reports.

Canadian utility proposes California desalination project

Utility service company Liberty Utilities, based in Oakville, Ont., has made a proposal to construct and operate a desalination plant using brackish water from wells at the mouth of the Salinas Valley in California. The proposal calls for a desal plant capable of producing up to 32,000 acre-feet of drinking water per year. The Monterey Herald reports.
