Benchmark begins operation at new land-based facility in Norway

UK-based salmon egg supplier Benchmark has commenced production of salmon eggs at its new land-based breeding facility in Salten, Norway, effectively increasing the company’s in-house production capacity by 75 per cent.


Russia eyes humpback salmon for state-owned hatcheries

Russian Federal Agency for Fishery Rosrybolovstvo plans to convert several state-owned hatcheries in the far eastern part of the country so they would breed humpback salmon (Oncorhunchus gorbusha) fry, instead of chum salmon (Oncorhynchus keta) fry, Vasily Sokolov, the deputy director of Rosrybolovstvo, revealed during a press-conference.


Grieg NL's salmon farm project gets $30M government funding boost

The government of Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, has come out solidly behind Grieg NL Seafarms Ltd's massive aquaculture project with the announcement by Premier Dwight Ball of a $30-million investment from the government.
