Feds help fund Cooke expansion

New Brunswick producer Cooke Aquaculture is expanding its facilities and advancing its existing salmon breeding program, with a $5.6 million boost from the Canadian government.


Center for Aquaculture Technologies sold to aquaculture investment fund

On April 23, 2019, all shares in aquaculture R&D company The Center for Aquaculture Technologies, were purchased by Cuna Del Mar LP, a US-based aquaculture investment fund, for an undisclosed amount from Linnaeus Capital Partners BV.


Stakeholders call for measures to support chinook, sockeye in British Columbia

Chinook (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) and sockeye (Oncorhynchus nerka) salmon spawning numbers in the Upper Fraser, Nechako and Stuart rivers in British Columbia, Canada, have caused a number of concerned parties to call for enhanced funding and information gathering, including looking into the establishment of a conservation hatchery.
