Texas company ‘revolutionizes’ shrimp farming

Commercial-scale shrimp farming has been pursued by many companies, with very few success stories. Spending years in the industry, Bill Williams has seen many companies come into existence, have some short-term success, but eventually fall into bankruptcy.


B.C. RAS shrimp farm shuts down

A land-based shrimp farm in Langley, British Columbia, has buckled under the weight of high production costs. Berezan Shrimp Co. shut down its 20,000-square-foot farm in September after 22 months of operation.


Pentair sells off aquaculture business

Water treatment specialist Pentair Plc is exiting the aquaculture business and selling related units to focus its strength on the residential and commercial pool segments.


North America’s first tuna hatchery

A new grant from the Foundation for Food and Agriculture Research (FFAR) augments ongoing support from the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) checkoff program and will allow Ichthus Unlimited, LLC, to establish a hatchery in the San Diego Bay area. This will be the first tuna hatchery in North America and the third bluefin hatchery in the world.
