ECOshrimp and Zemach Feed Mill have announced a partnership which will work toward developing a dedicated shrimp food bled of super-intensive shrimp cultivation in a closed recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). The new feed blend will be based on Zemach’s existing blend, and ECOshrimp will define the parameters of the collaboration, collecting and monitoring data at its growing facilities.

Blue Aqua has announced it will develop the first high-tech fish farm in Singapore, which will produce trout. This initiative comes as part of Blue Aqua’s intention to grow its aquaculture operations in Singapore, and will invest $45 million Singaporean dollars (US$29 million). The facility has a planned annual production capacity of 1,200 tons of rainbow trout, which will aim to meet local demand for sustainable, high-quality fish.

The Indonesian government has announced its plans to establish “aquaculture villages” to boost the aquaculture sector in the country. TB Haeru Rahayu, director-general of aquaculture of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, said that the farms will produce shrimp, lobster, crab, and seaweed.

A study in Germany has demonstrated that live feed still trumps microparticulate diets (MDs) in early weaning in European sea bass larvae. But it also showed that MD development has been improving Researchers compared the performance of four state-of-the-art commercially available MDs used in an early weaning protocol, to the standard Artemia-based feeding. The study primarily sought to significantly reduce the live feed period without compromising lower survival or deformities.

The technical team at NaturalShrimp Inc., reported that the company’s patented electrocoagulation (EC) water treatment technology is able to reduce nitrites in recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS) without the use of biofilters. Such a technology can cut instances of nitrite buildup in biofilters, which can be bad for fish health.
