Protix looks to expand insect feed focus with new appointments

Insect feed and food manufacturer, Protix, has announced two new senior appointments to keep up with “strong momentum for insect ingredients.”

Benchmark reorganizes its sales and marketing teams for Atlantic salmon division

The company is bringing together the commercial and marketing functions of Genetics and Health to streamline according to its species focus. Birgitte Sørheim has been appointed as Marketing Director, Salmon and Geir Olav Melingen, will be appointed Commercial Director, Salmon.

Study says peracetic acid is safe and effective disinfectant for aquaculture

Results of a study on using peracetic acid (PAA) as disinfectant for gilthead seabream (Sparus aurata) juvenile have positive implications in its use as a routine disinfectant in aquaculture. The study observed how seabream coped with oxidative stress induced by PAA.

Fish ladder to freedom

When Federal Fish and Wildlife opened the Coleman National Fish Hatchery on Sept. 25, 1942, it was a lifeline for local salmon and trout. The current fish ladder in Coleman was constructed in 2009 and is a vertical slot baffle fish ladder design. High water exchange in RAS may minimize prevalence of diseases on juvenile Nile tilapia

High water exchange within a culture system may result in good growth and feed utilization. A study in Ghana observed this on Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) juvenile under moderately high exchange of at least 100 per cent tank water replacement per hour in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). » Read more
